Wow! I just had some incredible imagery come to mind with the idea of the iron rod being the word of God. I always imagined it to equal the scriptures, but the iron rod is firm because it is the literal "word" of God. So the word could mean that what Christ and Father speak or convey; it could also mean the intent of the words; or it could also mean the literal vibration of the concept. Either way, we are to hold to Christ, who is the Word made Flesh. The scriptures have the capability of being tampered with. Only Christ can truly be likened to the strength of iron. Mind blown!
