The 1914 Germans were portrayed as monsters by the owners of the American media in order to get them to rally-round-the-flag and participate in a war that had nothing to do with our country, against a people that were, by their behavior in the Christmas truce, better Christians than us.

Everyone is disposed to pre-judge, to say their enemy is a monster. This doesn't just have to do with war, but all facets of life.

If someone disagrees with us we tend to bring up pictures in our head of what these people must be like now. We imagine them as dirty whores, vile apostates, stupid liberals and conservatives etc. We, in general, are afraid to really find out and as a result we de-humanize them.

We tend to judge others rather harshly and we will eventually reap harsh reward, upon harsh reward until we are as docile as the mortal Christ upon whom a dove could land without fear.
