Rob Smith has been excommunicated. Here is his account of the proceedings.

It makes me think of the scripture where Mormon tells his son that they are "[putting] down all power and authority which cometh from God; and they are denying the Holy Ghost."

I think if we really consider our situation, we, in our day, are the same as those in that day and we, as P. Kimball said, are a very war-like people, idolizing gods of iron and steel. It seems to me that we have lifted ourselves up in our arrogant pride and treat the lives of others cheaply. Cheaply because we are determined to *only* rely on the arm of flesh, and only rely on sources we consider "authoritative" rather than dig and search and default to the position of honoring mankind. This has consequences in the geo-political world as it does in the religious. We often don't seem to consider that "if it had not been for this they might have had as great privilege as their brethren", but the targets of their ire are not considered brethren, but those with the testimony of Jesus are considered to have a devil. "God doesn't work like that anymore," they say, "not in our day." and they also be come the accusers of Joseph.

It is with the accusers of our day the same as days past. Those with the testimony of Jesus are treated the same as He was treated.
