The illusion of the whore is pretense that she really cares about you. I suspect "whoredom" applies to much more than just sexual or loving pretense, and that a great many men, women and primarily religionists are guilty of committing and participating in whoredoms.

Perhaps this had something to do with Joseph's statement: "I love that man better who swears a stream as long as my arm yet deals justice to his neighbors and mercifully deals his substance to the poor, than the long, smooth-faced hypocrite."

Did the Pharisees believe they were good, God-fearing men who cared about men's souls? Were they outraged when it was suggested otherwise? Have we exceeded the righteousness of the Pharisees? Do we have respect for men's beliefs and persuade them with pure knowledge, or do we pretend to knowledge that is not ours and seek to compel them in thought and action?

Whoredoms and priestcrafts go hand-in-hand. Setting yourself up as a light to the world, to get gain and the praise of the world is the payment for this pretense.

Whoredoms are a level below what is acceptable in Zion
