"And it shall be said among the wicked: Let us not go up to battle against Zion, for the inhabitants of Zion are terrible; wherefore we cannot stand. And it shall come to pass that the righteous shall be gathered out from among all nations, and shall come to Zion, singing with songs of everlasting joy."

When Christ comes, the scriptures say the wicked will "burn as stubble". Another scriptures says all things that are not by him shall shake and tremble untill all that remains is what is what heaven has willed to remain. Nothing unclean can abide his presence. The revelation of his person will burn us like a lake of fire and brimstone. He does not burn us, we burn ourselves. Our minds spontaneously alight when confronted with who he is, and compare that to our own character. We will tremble and not be able to stand when confronted with his character, his eternal loving-kindness, compassion, longsuffering and incomprehensible sacrifice, and we compare that to how we have hurt one another. How we gave up on our spouse, children, or our neighbors, when it only required a tiny amount love. Or how we silenced them when they wanted to express themselves, their ideas, a precious person squashed, drowned-out. Our minds will feel like they are melting at the horror of what we have betrayed when we estimate ourselves in comparison to Him. We will want to flee, hide and say "Oh, God! I can't take this, throw me into the deepest pit, and let a hundred mountains fall upon me to hide me from who you are so I can forget who I am!"

So when we talk about the imaginary "inhabitants of Zion", how are they "terrible". How is it that the wicked not able to stand in their presence? What are these people like?
