Here is what I currently think of homosexuality. I believe God is All in all.1 That the earth is his footstool, that the power the birds have to sing is enabled by the power of God in each cell and atom. That any who hath seen the least of them has seen God moving in his majesty and power. I believe our sex drives are powered by Him also, after all, he spoke "be fruitful and multiply" but again "I the Lord delight in the chastity of women." I believe the source of homosexuality can be from poor diet and biology altering chemicals,2 but I believe most of it comes from ceasing to know God. When we reject God as a growing child we all fill ourselves with things that cannot satisfy, to fill the void that's missing. All of this is compounded by imperfect homes and missing love of parents and probably especially, fathers. I believe that the love of God can heal anything and that only humbly seeking Him can we be at peace.

I believe also that some people, given the aberrations and confusions in biology can be "born that way" and that it is still the power of God that powers those desires, yet it is an anomaly, given for a purpose, given to teach them and give us an opportunity also to be charitable.

Who can throw the first stone at a sinner? I believe the commandments are mostly a barometer, and not something we face head on. The barometer tells us if we're getting closer, if we're becoming more Christlike, but becoming like Him is more like someone learning to ride a motorcycle, by riding with an expert rider (Christ). We feel their movements and learn the time to lean, the time to look faster than we would if we suffered a thousand broken arms.

That's my spiel.

Notes

1. "One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Ephesians 4:6)

"O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee." (Psalm 139:1-18)

"He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth; Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ. As also he is in the sun, and the light of the sun, and the power thereof by which it was made. As also he is in the moon, and is the light of the moon, and the power thereof by which it was made; As also the light of the stars, and the power thereof by which they were made; And the earth also, and the power thereof, even the earth upon which you stand. And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings; Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space— The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things."
