In every group there have been standards of conduct, opinions or behavior that isn't tolerated. People offended and leaving. People that can't not have an argument. People that wind up being cast out.

From the recent answer: "you don't know how to disagree."

This comes from what I call a Mormon, and perhaps human lust to "preach."

Can the people who claim to follow Christ's teachings, just do so? 3 Nephi 18 teaches we are not to cast any out. If, in our view they are contending, can you just let them have their opinion without always feeling a need to correct or "preach" to them (even if they preach to you)? We, are a bunch of souls (most of us) that haven't been adopted, haven't heard the voice "you shall have eternal life" yet we feel the need to correct everyone that disagrees with us. If we feel someone is contending, we try to forbid them, instead of just talking with them, or simply ignoring when you feel attacked. You don't have to respond, you don't have to preach, you probably don't know enough to preach, and since you're not Christ, even if you have been in his presence, it's probably best to just follow the advice he gave, rather than "suffering ourselves to be led into temptation" by casting people out, by censoring their thoughts.

I agree, be nice, but let it apply to ourselves and not demand it of others. Apply it internally, not externally (which may cause burning). Offended people will leave on their own, that's fine, they need a break or to learn something.

The Father gives good things to the just and unjust, he values all. We are supposed to be striving to become the Father.
